Paramount Theater

Paramount Theater is an Art Deco movie theater located in downtown Oakland, California, designed by architect Timothy L. Pflueger, who also designed San Francisco's Castro Theatre.
Timeline
- Construction was completed in 1931;
- Closed in 1970 due to financial hardships;
- Designated a California Registered Historic Landmark in 1976;
- Declared a National Historic Landmark on May 5, 1977.
The theater has since reopened after undergoing an extensive restoration and currently houses the Oakland Ballet, Oakland East Bay Symphony, as well as showing movies.
