Biography

Pain of Salvation was founded by Daniel Gildenlöw at age 11 in 1984, although the band was originally given the name Reality (Later, in 1991 the band was renamed to Pain of Salvation). After a few changes in the line-up the Band was able to release their first studio-album Entropia in 1997. This initial success led to further albums, each gaining more and more critical acclaim.

In 2004 Pain of Salvation released their most ambitious album BE. This time with the support of a small symphony orchestra called the Orchestra of Eternity. This album was the first to divide the fan-base in opinion, due to its musically experimental and philisophical nature.

Their sound is characterised by powerful, accenturated guitar-work, broad vocal range, abrupt switching between heavy and calm passages and experimenting with polyrhythmics. Another trademark of the band is the fact, that each album is a concept album with very emotional and complex lyrics.
