Pádraig Faulkner was a senior Irish politician. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann in 1957 as a Fianna Fáil TD for Louth. Faulkner served in the Cabinets of Jack Lynch and Charles J. Haughey on several occasions as well as Ceann Comhairle (Chairman of Dáil Éireann). He retired from politics in 1987 after a 30-year Dáil career. One of his most notable achievements was his introduction of the legislation to establish two commercial semi-State companies, An Post and Telecom Éireann.
