Overland is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 16,838.
Geography
Overland is located at 38°41'57" North, 90°22'4" West (38.699051, -90.367797)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²). 11.3 km² (4.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.45% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 16,838 people, 7,012 households, and 4,494 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,484.3/km² (3,842.8/mi²). There are 7,446 housing units at an average density of 656.4/km² (1,699.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.56% White, 11.19% African American, 0.32% Native American, 2.01% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.83% from other races, and 2.05% from two or more races. 2.19% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 7,012 households out of which 29.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.8% are married couples living together, 16.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.9% are non-families. 29.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.96.
