A New World Record (1976) | Out of the Blue (1977) | Discovery (1979) |
Out of the Blue is an LP by Electric Light Orchestra. It was released in 1977 (see 1977 in music). It was originally released as a double album, but today is available on a single CD.
Unlike their previous album A New World Record, Out of the Blue has a large number of slower, more romantic songs, as well as a "Concerto For a Rainy Day", comprised of four separate tracks relating to weather. The album is consistantly strong with few or no fillers and is widely regarded as their best work, (although many claim this title belongs to either A New World Record or Eldorado). It was also one of their most commercialy successful albums, helped partly by the large spaceship on the cover, (now synonymous with the group), which capitalised on Star Wars fever.
