Otis is a town located in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,365.

History
Otis was first settled in 1735 and was officially incorporated in 1773.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 98.5 km² (38.0 mi²). 92.8 km² (35.8 mi²) of it is land and 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.76% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,365 people, 567 households, and 386 families residing in the town. The population density is 14.7/km² (38.1/mi²). There are 1,572 housing units at an average density of 16.9/km² (43.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.56% White, 0.59% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.88% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. 0.29% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 567 households out of which 26.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.1% are married couples living together, 5.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.9% are non-families. 24.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.90.
In the town the population is spread out with 21.8% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 30.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
