Omar José Daal (born February 23, 1972 in Maracaibo, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball left-handed starting pitcher who last played for the Baltimore Orioles.
Daal made his debut on April 24, 1993. He is a two-career pitcher who began as a reliever for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1993-95), Montreal Expos (1996-97) and Toronto Blue Jays (1997), and then turned as a starter with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1998. Daal was sent to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2000 mid-season and returned to Los Angeles in 2002. After that season, he signed a two-year contract with the Orioles.
Daal throws a deceptive fastball that rarely exceed 85 MPH, a good changeup, and a decent curveball. When he has both control and command of his pitches, he can be tough.
In 11-year career, Daal has compiled a record of 68-78 record with 806 strikeouts and a 4.55 ERA in 1198.2 innings pitched.
After undergoing arthroscopic surgery in his left shoulder in early 2004, Daal was out for the rest of the season. As of June 2005, Daal's whereabouts are unknown and he is not pitching in organized baseball.
