Omaha Royals
The Omaha Royals are a minor league baseball team based in Omaha, Nebraska. The team, which plays in the Pacific Coast League, is the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals major-league club. The Royals play in Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, located in Omaha.
After the 1998 season, the team name was changed to the Omaha Golden Spikes. The name change, a reference to the Golden Spike driven at Promontory Summit, Utah was intended to celebrate the rich railroad tradition in Omaha. Beginning with the 2002 season, the team name was changed back to the Omaha Royals.
