Ohio is a town located in Herkimer County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 922.
The Town of Ohio was formed from the now defunct Town of Wilmurt. Ohio is in the northwest part of the county.

Geography
The eastern town line is the border of Hamilton County, New York, and the western town line is the border of Oneida County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 800.2 km² (309.0 mi²). 783.7 km² (302.6 mi²) of it is land and 16.6 km² (6.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.07% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 922 people, 349 households, and 255 families residing in the town. The population density is 1.2/km² (3.0/mi²). There are 974 housing units at an average density of 1.2/km² (3.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.96% White, 0.54% African American, 1.41% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.54% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. 0.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 349 households out of which 35.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% are married couples living together, 8.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.9% are non-families. 20.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.06.
In the town the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 104.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 107.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $29,813, and the median income for a family is $36,667. Males have a median income of $25,625 versus $22,153 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,641. 20.9% of the population and 18.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 26.2% of those under the age of 18 and 30.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
