Geography
Oceanside is located at 40°38'11" North, 73°38'15" West (40.636286, -73.637404)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 14.0 km² (5.4 mi²). 13.0 km² (5.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.38% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 32,733 people, 11,224 households, and 9,125 families residing in the area. The population density is 2,517.6/km² (6,523.6/mi²). There are 11,396 housing units at an average density of 876.5/km² (2,271.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 94.95% White, 0.56% African American, 0.07% Native American, 1.83% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.58% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. 5.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 11,224 households out of which 36.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.5% are married couples living together, 8.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.7% are non-families. 16.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.90 and the average family size is 3.25.
In the community the population is spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.5 males.
The median income for a household in the community is $75,719, and the median income for a family is $83,711. Males have a median income of $55,652 versus $40,163 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $30,245. 3.5% of the population and 2.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.8% of those under the age of 18 and 3.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
Education
The Oceanside School District is made up of nine schools, including one kindergarten, six elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.
