Oakport CDP is a census-designated place (CDP) within Oakport Township located in Clay County of the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,334.
The United States Census Bureau uses the CDP definition in order to provide separate demographic details describing the more densely populated central settlement of the township. Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,334 people, 446 households, and 400 families residing in the settlement. The population density is 169.4/km² (439.1/mi²). There are 462 housing units at an average density of 58.7/km² (152.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.50% White, 0.15% African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.15% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 0.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 446 households out of which 45.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 83.2% are married couples living together, 4.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.3% are non-families. 9.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.99 and the average family size is 3.14.
