Template:Politics of Norway A general election to the Storting, the parliament of Norway, was held on 10 September 2001. The Labour Party won a plurality of votes and seats, closely followed by the Conservative Party. The Labour Party was unable to form a government, and a conservative coalition led by Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik of the Christian People's Party came to power.

Notes
- Jan Simonsen, who was elected as a member of the Progress Party, later sat as an independent after being expelled from the party.
- The Coastal Party was formally founded in 1999, but its leader, Steinar Bastesen, had won a seat at the previous election under the name Tverrpolitisk Folkevalgte.
