Norwalk is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 103,298.

Geography
Norwalk is located at 33°54'25" North, 118°5'0" West (33.906914, -118.083398)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.2 km² (9.7 mi²). 25.1 km² (9.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.51% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 103,298 people, 26,887 households, and 22,531 families residing in the city. The population density is 4,120.2/km² (10,667.6/mi²). There are 27,554 housing units at an average density of 1,099.0/km² (2,845.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 44.82% White, 4.62% African American, 1.16% Native American, 11.54% Asian, 0.39% Pacific Islander, 32.75% from other races, and 4.71% from two or more races. 62.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 26,887 households out of which 46.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.1% are married couples living together, 16.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 16.2% are non-families. 12.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.79 and the average family size is 4.08.
In the city the population is spread out with 32.1% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 17.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 97.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.3 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $46,047, and the median income for a family is $47,524. Males have a median income of $31,579 versus $26,047 for females. The per capita income for the city is $14,022. 11.9% of the population and 9.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 14.8% of those under the age of 18 and 7.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Norwalk Transit
The Norwalk Transit serves Norwalk and its adjacent the communities. Currently there are 5 different bus lines operating in the city and surrounding areas. The Norwalk Transit links riders to other buslines including the Long Beach Transit, Orange County Transportation Authority, and the MTA.
MTA
The Metropolitan Transit Authority has made Norwalk a transportation hub. Two MTA lines connect Norwalk with greater Los Angeles. The MTA Green Line which originates in Norwalk has a direct route to LAX and the Metrolink connects Norwalk with Orange County, Riverside County, and Downtown Los Angeles.
