Nobody Nowhere: The Extraordinary Autobiography of an Autistic Girl is the award-winning, debut book by Australia-born author and artist Donna Williams (born 1963). It was initially published in Britain in 1992, and was on the New York Times Best-Sellers list for over a year. She has since released a musical album by the same name.
It covers her life from as far back as she can remember (3 years old). At times she was thought to be deaf or retarded, but only as an adult did she discover that her difficulty interfacing with the world around her was caused by her autism. It ends when she was about to publish it. Somebody Somewhere (1994) is her sequel that picks up the story of getting the first book published, and how that changed her life. Later autobiographical works include Like Colour to the Blind (1996), and Everyday Heaven (2004).
Nobody Nowhere has been published in at least 20 languages, and there is talk of a film version.
