Nigel Griffiths (born 20 May 1955) is a Labour politician in Scotland.
He was born in Glasgow, and attended Edinburgh University before working as a welfare-rights officer.
He has been member of Parliament at Westminister for Edinburgh South since 1987. He was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Trade and Industry. Having previously been appointed to this post in 1997 and sacked in 1998, he was re-appointed in 2001. After the General Election in 2005, Griffiths was appointed deputy leader of the House of Commons on May 10th.
Prior to his election as an MP, Griffiths served as a member of Edinburgh Council from 1980 to 1987.
