Name origin

The name Nidorina comes from Nidorino with the -A feminine ending to signify that it is female.

Avaliability

Nidorina is available in every Pokémon game except Ruby and Sapphire. In all games, you can evolve Nidoran♀ when it reaches Level 16 or by obtaining it at the following locations:

  • Blue/Red/Fire Red/Leaf Green: Safari Zone, Route 11, Celadon City Game Corner. On Route 11, you have to trade for it, and it is only available at the Game Corner on Red.
  • Yellow: Safari Zone, Routes 9 & 23

Information

Nidorina's horn develops slowly. Prefers physical attacks such as clawing and biting. When resting deep in its burrow, its thorns always retract. This is proof that it is relaxed. The female is usually docile. However, if it becomes enraged, it will attack wildly with bites and scratches. When feeding its young, it first chews and tenderizes the food, then spits it out for the offspring. If it is threatened with attack, it raises the barbs that are all over its body. When Nidorina are with their friends or family, they keep their barbs tucked away to prevent hurting each other. This Pokémon appears to become nervous if separated from the others.
