New International Reader's Version
|
The New International Reader's Version (NIRV) is an English language translation of the Christian Bible, translated by the International Bible Society. This translation is based on the same philosophy as the philosophy behind the New International Version, but is written in a simpler form of English, making it more accessible for people who have difficulty reading English. Additionally, this translation uses more gender-inclusive language than the New International Version.

Here is a comparison of a passage in the King James Version, the New International Version, and the New International Reader's Version:
- KJV: "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." (Luke 18:14 KJB)
- NIV:"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." (Luke 18:14, NIV)
- NIRV:"I tell you, the tax collector went home accepted by God. But not the Pharisee. Everyone who lifts himself up will be brought down. And anyone who is brought down will be lifted up." (Luke 18:14 NIRV)
Like the New International Version, only the 66 books accepted by mainstream Evangelicals are translated.
