New Hudson is a town located in Allegany County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 736.

History
The New Hudson was set apart as the "Town of Haight" in 1825 from part of the Town of Rushford and changed its name to New Hudson in 1837. The original name Haight was that of a militia general, who finally irritated the citizens enough with excessive demands that the people changed the name of the town.
Geography
The west town line is the border of Cattaraugus County, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 94.4 km² (36.4 mi²). 94.1 km² (36.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.30% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 736 people, 268 households, and 198 families residing in the town. The population density is 7.8/km² (20.3/mi²). There are 436 housing units at an average density of 4.6/km² (12.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.37% White, 0.27% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. 0.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 268 households out of which 34.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.9% are married couples living together, 4.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.1% are non-families. 22.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.23.
In the town the population is spread out with 31.0% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 97.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.0 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $33,859, and the median income for a family is $34,702. Males have a median income of $27,917 versus $18,542 for females. The per capita income for the town is $12,319. 13.1% of the population and 12.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 14.7% of those under the age of 18 and 6.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
