Needville is a city located in Fort Bend County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,609.

Needville is located at 29°23'54" North, 95°50'24" West (29.398232, -95.839880)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.4 km² (1.7 mi²). 4.4 km² (1.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,609 people, 926 households, and 688 families residing in the city. The population density is 592.6/km² (1,532.5/mi²). There are 979 housing units at an average density of 222.3/km² (575.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 74.09% White, 13.19% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 10.23% from other races, and 2.11% from two or more races. 23.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 926 households out of which 39.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% are married couples living together, 13.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.6% are non-families. 22.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.25.
In the city the population is spread out with 29.5% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 85.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $41,202, and the median income for a family is $48,824. Males have a median income of $35,200 versus $26,389 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,802. 11.5% of the population and 8.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 16.8% of those under the age of 18 and 18.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
The Name
August Schendel founded the town of Schendelville in 1891. In 1984, he applied for a post office using the name Needmore since they always needed more of everything. Due to Needmore already existing, the post office amended the name to Needville.
Events
- The Needville Harvest Festival, founded in 1983, is held every October. The festival is organized by NHF, Inc. to draw visitors to Needville in the hope of stimulating local business, to raise funds for community development, and to fund annual scholarships for local high school students.
- The Vintage Rosery, located across from the Needville High School, was voted Fort Bend County's Best Tourist Attraction in 2004. Each Spring and Fall, speakers come from around the State to the public gardens at The Vintage Rosery discussing topics such as organic gardening, antique roses, growing herbs in the South, cooking with edible flowers and soil remediation.
