National Action
|
National Action was an Australian political party that was said to be on the far-right of the political spectrum. It has no representatives in any Australian parliament, at either state or national level as its pseudo-revolutionary ideology dictated that it remain outside the "political system".
Some of its policies include the deportation of asylum seekers and the total ending of Aboriginal native title. For this reason, National Action has been alleged to be racist and xenophobic. National Action has also espoused theories that a New World Order is taking over the world and must be stopped. They have also been accused of being a neo-nazi party as Saleam was a member of the Australian Nazi party in the 1970's, though they claimed they were a "National Bolshevik" party largely influenced and determined by its "chairman" James Saleam Phd, who claimed it was led collectively .
It was always a fringe group never reaching a popular following owing to the tactics if terrorism and intimidation against perceived enemies and mostly against rival Racial-Nationalists.It's main failure was due to its chairman being convicted for Insurance Fraud in 1988,conspiricies to fire-bomb a political rival's home and to murder Anti-Aparteid activist Eddie Funde in which Saleam received a hefty term of imprisonment in 1991 and National Action having being perceived by the public at large as a criminal gang.
In the mid-1990s, the success of the right wing One Nation Party led many National Action members to join One Nation with the aim of implementing a broad far-right, anti-immigration party. The subsequent implosion(which partially due to Saleam's machinations to "takeover"One Nation) of One Nation stymied this plan.
In recent years, attempts have been made to resurrect the party by largely a rival of Saleam's Michael Brander M.A., but have seemed to have little impact because of the total loss of Dr.Saleam's credibility amongst ex-members and the majority of other Racial-Nationalists who all have had been attacked physically or slandered by him. However, in February 2004, they succeeded in removing the principal of a Melbourne high school, after they picketed the school in protest at alleged attacks on Caucasian students by Asian gangs. Similar attempts were made at an Adelaide high school, but the principal stayed firm and the allegations were proven to be hoaxes.
National Action Co-founder David Greason's book I was a Teenage Fascist tells of his time within the Australian neo-Nazi movement and the events behind his founding of National Action, which revealed that Saleam's own father was Lebanese.Template:Politics of Australia
