The Nashville Sounds are a minor league baseball team of the Pacific Coast League. The team is located in Nashville, Tennessee and play at Herschel Greer Stadium; opened in 1978, the park holds 10,700 fans. The club joined the PCL during its amalgamation of the American Association in 1998. They are the AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The nickname "Sounds" refers to the country music recording industry of Nashville.
The Sounds are currently in negotiations with the Metropolitan Nashville government to build a new state-of-the-art stadium on city-owned property along the banks of the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville. If the deal falls through, the team has stated it is likely to leave Nashville.
