Nashville is a town located in Brown County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 825. The town is the county seat of Brown CountyTemplate:GR. The town is best known as being an artists colony with a variety of speciality shops.

Today, Nashville boasts a thriving tourist industry based upon the original works of resident artists and upon the the area's natural beauty. Nearby Brown County State Park is visited by more than a million people per year, many of whom come to see resplendent fall colors in the trees of the forests in the park and its environs.

Nashville is also host to a number of entertainment venues. Among them are the Pine Box Cabaret theatre, the Nashville Follies, and the Brown County Playhouse. The latter is operated by Indiana University—Bloomington, and some fine actors and actresses have performed on this stage including Peter Sellars, the Royal Shakespeare Company and Kevin Kline.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.5 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and 1.04% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 825 people, 375 households, and 181 families residing in the town. The population density is 335.3/km² (868.6/mi²). There are 412 housing units at an average density of 167.4/km² (433.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.09% White, 0.85% African American, 0.85% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.36% from other races, and 0.36% from two or more races. 0.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 375 households out of which 16.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.3% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 51.5% are non-families. 45.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.86 and the average family size is 2.58.
In the town the population is spread out with 13.0% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 20.8% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 31.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 52 years. For every 100 females there are 77.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 73.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $27,330, and the median income for a family is $38,750. Males have a median income of $30,000 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the town is $24,723. 16.5% of the population and 14.3% of families are below the poverty line.
