NSF (Deus Ex)

NSF is short for National Secessionist Forces in the computer game Deus Ex. They are regarded as terrorists by UNATCO as they are known for raiding Ambrosia-shipments (a cure for the "Gray death" plague present in the game) and numerous other acts. Their motive is to give the ordinary people as good a chance to survive the plague as the rich and "important" people. They reside only in the United States of America although they receive help from Silhouette, a supposed terrorist group in France. NSF members can be identified by their gray metal body armour, tan coloured pants and an orange visor over their eyes.

History of The NSF

In 2031 Utah announced its intention to secede from the United States, declaring its independence and annexing what was left of Arizona and Nevada. Inspired by Utah's example, fringe groups in Texas declared independence as well. Shortly after Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming formed the Northwest Secessionist Forces (NSF). All of these attempts to secede failed, however martial law continues to exist in some portions of these states.

The Sporting Weapons Act of 2042 was passed and the NSF appeared once again. The new NSF (now National Secessionist Forces) was formed from gun toting people who refused to let go of their rifles, grenades, land mines, and other "collectibles." Lead by Leon Woods they intended the "liberation" of Washington, Montana, Oregon, and Northern California. Leon Woods died in his (in)famous last stand in 2045 at the Siege of Snoqualmie, but the NSF continued on.

At this point the U.N. Declared war on the NSF. In 2052 their main goal seemed to be to give normal people as much of a chance to get the plague vaccine as the rich people and members of government. This usually involved stealing the plague vaccine ambrosia from UNATCO. Even with their good intentions the NSF remained a terrorist group. They would arm anyone willing to fight for their cause and they committed many acts of terror, such as hostage taking. This not only made them unpopular with the lower to middle class people they were supposedly trying to help, but it also gave the government some prime material to construct anti-NSF propaganda with.

After the events of Deus Ex it is not known what happens to the NSF.
