Mzuzu is the capital of Malawi's Northern Region and the third largest city in the country, with a population of 119,592 (2003). It is in the center of an agricultural region, specializing in tea and coffee cultivation. A university has recently opened in Mzuzu as well. There are adequate accommodations for tourists visiting the north of the country, particularly the Nyika Plateau and Livingstone Mission. The Viphya Forest to the south of the town is often named as the largest man-made forest in the world.
