Music Recommendation System for iTunes
|
The Music Recommendation System for iTunes is a recommender system that uses collaborative filtering to generate music recommendations. It is computer software that serves a similar purpose as iRate Radio, but functions differently in that it uses the integrated rating system built into iTunes, rather than providing any music downloads. This allows for better recommendations because of a larger data set. When recommending music, the software provides links directly to the iTunes Music Store should the song exist for purchase on that store. Although the provides services primary for users of iTunes, it is not written by Apple Computer but rather by researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for the explicit development of better collaborative filtering algorithms.
