Mount Union College is a 4-year private, liberal arts college in Alliance, Ohio.

History and Profile
Mount Union was founded in 1846 by Orville Nelson Hartshorn as "a place where men and women could be educated with equal opportunity, science would parallel the humanities and there would be no distinction due to race, color or sex." Admission to the College has always been predicated on academic excellence and promise.
Eighty percent of the faculty at Mount Union have earned a doctoral or terminal degree with graduate training at universities in the United States and Europe.
Mount Union College enrolls 2,400 undergraduates; approximately 53 percent women and 47 percent men, representing more than 20 states and 15 countries. Mount Union has an active alumni base of more than 11,000 graduates located around the world.
Mount Union is proud of its religious heritage and its background in the Methodist Church. For more than a century the College has been officially connected with the Methodist Church. It is now affiliated with the East Ohio, West Ohio and Western Pennsylvania Conferences of the United Methodist Church.
Mount Union has been ranked for 13 consecutive years as a top regional liberal arts college in the Midwest and was also ranked as a Best Buy for regional liberal arts colleges in the Midwest.
Notable Faculty of Mount Union
Dr. John L. Ewing, Jr., the 10th president of Mount Union, is a native of Bridgeton, New Jersey. Ewing earned his B.A. degree in physical education from Asbury College in 1974. He later earned his M.S. degree in physical education specializing in exercise physiology from the University of Kentucky in 1975 and his Ph.D. degree in the same discipline at the University of Minnesota in 1982.
Dr. Richard Marriott, a native of Beaumont, Texas, is dean of Mount Union, earned his bachelor's degree in psychology/biology from Weber State University. He earned his Master's and Ph.D. in psychology from the University of New Mexico.
Sy Green, chairman of the Board of Trustees, is the retired executive vice president and managing director of Chubb & Son, Inc. Green is a 1964 graduate of the College.
Mount Union Sports Facts
Mount Union sponsors 11 men's varsity teams: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis and Wrestling. The Mount Union football team has won a record seven NCAA Division III national championships, all since 1993. They also co-hold the all-division record for consecutive victories at 55, ended in their loss to St. John's (Minn.) in the 2003 national championship game.
Mount Union sponsors 10 women's varsity teams: Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis and Volleyball.
Mount Union's nickname is the Purple Raiders with the MUCaw, a purple parrot, as its mascot. With school colors of purple and white, Mount Union competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference and in NCAA Division III athletics.
