Mount Hakurei

Mount Hakurei (白霊山, hakurei-zan) is a fictional place in the Inuyasha manga and anime.
Mount Hakurei was a mountain encased by an abnormally pure holy barrier so powerful it was able to completely eliminate any yōki (thereby killing pure-blooded yōkai) and even repel evil humans. The source of this barrier turned out to be the living mummy of a monk named Hakushin, turned into a saint by the people he devoted his life to saving and forced to become a living Buddha when he was buried alive by these same people.
Naraku tricked Hakushin into making the barrier by telling him it was alright to hate the people that had buried him alive. He used this and the Shichinintai to distract and protect himself from Inuyasha and the others pursuing him while he transformed and built a new body, making the detachment Akago in the process to hold Naraku's human heart. Kikyō eventually found Hakushin and reassured him that it was alright to doubt and cry over his own death and weakness, helping him release his soul to Nirvana and causing the barrier to disappear. Despite the fall of the barrier, it was too late for Inuyasha and Naraku escaped with his new body and detachment while the physical embodiment of Onigumo's old affection for Kikyō was destroyed in the resulting collapse of the mountain.
