Mong Kok (MTR)

Mong Kok (旺角, Jyutping: wong6 gok3, pinyin: Wàngjiǎo) is an MTR station located in the central area of Mong Kok, Kowloon. It is between Prince Edward and Yau Ma Tei stations on the Template:Tsuen Wan Line and Template:Kwun Tong Line. Mong Kok's livery is Dim Red. The initial English name for the station was Argyle, after nearby Argyle Street. However the station was renamed shortly after opening.
Mong Kok opened on 31 December 1979, originally serving as part of the Kwun Tong Line towards Tsim Sha Tsui and Central. When the Tsuen Wan Line opened in 1982, it took over the original line south of Yau Ma Tei station.
Mong Kok Station serves as an interchange between two MTR lines, allowing passengers to change trains either from the Kwun Tong Line trains to southbound Tsuen Wan Line trains towards Central, or vice versa. Mong Kok station should not be confused with the Template:KCR East Rail station bearing the same name. The KCR station is nearly 500 metres to the northeast of the MTR station.
