Mogens Lykketoft

Mogens Lykketoft succeeded former Danish prime minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen as leader of the Social Democratic party, (Socialdemokratiet), in December 2002.
In the cabinet formed by a coalition of the Social Liberal Party (Det Radikale Venstre) and the Social Democrats that ruled from 1993 to 2001, he held positions as Finance Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
After losing the 2005 Danish parliamentary election he resigned as leader of his party.
