Mogán is a municipality on the southwestern part of the island island Gran Canaria in the province of Las Palmas, Canary Islands. The fishing cities Puerto de Mogán and Arguineguin are both in the Municipality of Mogán. Mogán is the second largest municipality in area on the island. Mogán is a westernbnmost suburb of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The population is 15,932 (ISTAC (http://www.gobiernodecanarias.org/istac/), 2003), its density is 98.06/km˛ and the area is 172.43 km˛/17,243 ha. Much of the population live within the Atlantic coastline. Mogán is situated in the mountains and the valley area that are mainly covered with greens and forests. Barren land dominates the north, central and east especially in the mountain areas while farmlands and urban areas lies 2 to 3 km within the Atlantic Ocean and the residential area. Mogán is located SW of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, WSW Teide and N of Puerto Rico and is accessed with the GC1 superhighway to the south and is the southernmost at the 58th km interchange or exit 58/59?. The main industry are business, agriculture, tourism. Tourism is dominant mainly within the coast. Mogŕn is part of the tourist area of the southern part of the island.
