Mirko Racki

Mirko Rački (October 13, 1879 - August 21, 1982) was a Croatian painter.

Rački was born in Novi Marof, and finished the Teacher's Academy in Zagreb. He then went to the private art school of H. Strehblow in Vienna, then the Academy in Prague by Vlaho Bukovac and Vienna by W. Unger. He lived in Munich, (1907 - 1914), then in Rome, Geneva, Zagreb and finally Split.
First and the most productive time he lived outside Croatia, but he is in the permanent contact with Croatian artists (Izidor Kršnjavi and Ivan Meštrović) and in those times he works in the spirit of secession (the name for Art Nouveau in Vienna).

Rački's most important collection of work is connected to the Dante's The Divine Comedy and he was upset with these motifs until the end of his life.
Some his works were published in the collector's edition of Divine Comedy from 1934 in Bergamo. Retrospective exhibition was held in 1970 in Zagreb.hr:Mirko Rački
