Military branches:
Islamic Republic of Iran Regular Forces (Artesh) include Ground Forces, the Navy, Air and Air Defense Forces). The parallel Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps includes ground, air and naval components as well as the Qods (Special Forces), and the Basij militia. Some paramilitary law-enforcement groups can be mobilized as well. Irans military is mostly kept secret but it's advanced abilities and technologies have been shown through the building of long range missiles like the shahab-3 and advanced machinery.
The United States have recently alleged that Iran might be developing nuclear weapons, though the United Nations have released several reports disputing this assertion. See Iran's nuclear program.
