Michael Harrison Sweet was the lead singer and co-founder of the popular Christian band Stryper which was successful in the 1980s. He was born on July 4, 1963 in the United States.
His voice has a range of about 3 and a half octaves; he is often mistaken for a woman in some of his songs. He began his musical career at age 5 playing guitar and at age 12 he began to sing.
Michael also plays drums, piano and bass guitar. After his years with Stryper he began a solo career, releasing several original records and most recently an album of hymns. In the year 2000, Michael reunited with the other members of Stryper to play the Stryper Expo in Parsippany New Jersey. After that came other shows across America and the Caribbean, including a second expo, a brief US tour and live album.
Per the "What's New" section of his official website, http://www.michaelsweet.com, Michael returned to the studio with Stryper in late 2004 to record the band's sixth studio album.
