Mesoscale meterology
|
Mesoscale, in meteorology, is sub-Synoptic scale.
Very roughly, mesoscale can be subdivided (Fujita, 1986) into:
- Mesoscale-alpha, 200 to 2000 km, 6 h to 2 day, e.g. small hurricanes, weak anticyclones
- Mesoscale-beta, 20 to 200 km, 30 min to 6 h, e.g. mountain winds, mesoscale convective complexes
- Mesoscale-gamma, 2 to 20 km, 3 to 30 min, e.g. thunderstorms
