Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 10,192 people, 3,707 households, and 2,772 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 946.0/km² (2,447.8/mi²). There are 3,793 housing units at an average density of 352.0/km² (911.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 92.71% White, 3.66% African American, 0.47% Native American, 1.63% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races. 4.07% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,707 households out of which 38.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.6% are married couples living together, 11.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% are non-families. 21.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.23.
