Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre

The Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre is located in Southbank to the south of the CBD. The Centre was built as a replacement for the Royal Exhibition Building and it consists of the Convention Centre and the Exhibition Centre, both were opened at diffenrent times.
The Convention Centre was opened in May 1990 and has hosted thousands of conventions and meetings.
The Exhibition Centre was opened in February 1996 and has also hosted thousands of large exhibitions. Some of these exhibitions are annual events. It has a pillarless floor space of 30,000 square metres, making it the largest pillarless floor space in the southern hemisphere. This building has also been known as "Jeff's Shed" after the former premier of Victoria Jeff Kennett.
