William Mark Price (born February 15, 1964 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma) is an American basketball player.
Price is living proof there's still a place for the little man in the NBA. The 6-foot former Georgia Tech point guard has mystified critics who said he was too slow, too small and too deliberate for a high-level game. A second round pick by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1986 NBA Draft, he was acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in a draft day trade that helped turn the Cavs into an Eastern Conference power. Through hard work and gritty determination, he developed into a first-class floor general, a nice combination of a shooter, penetrator and defender who can step up his game at critical moments. One of the best 3-point marksmen in the league, Price also is a career 90 percent free throw shooter who has ranked consistently among the assist leaders . The -time Long Distance Shootout champion and four-time All-Star had been plagued by injuries late in his career, a factor in his trade to the Washington Bullets before the 1995-96 season. He played one season for Washington before moving on to the Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic. He retired in 1998 and will always be a fan favorite in Cleveland.
