Mark Johnston is a racehorse trainer based in Middleham, North Yorkshire. He is considered to be one of the most successful racehorse trainers in the UK, training 146 winners and claiming £2,454,440 in prize money in 2003.
In 2004 he won the One Thousand Guineas Stakes with Attraction. Other successful horses he has trained are Mister Baileys, winner of the Two Thousand Guineas Stakes and Double Trigger, three time winner of the Ascot Gold Cup.
Johnston has been training in Middleham since 1988 when he purchased Kingsley House (former home of Charles Kingsley, author of The Water Babies).
His success is at least in part due to the fantastic natural facilities available to him and other Middleham based trainers on the nearby gallops.
