Manchester is a census-designated place located in Kitsap County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 4,958.
Geography
Manchester is located at 47°33'8" North, 122°32'60" West (47.552305, -122.549984)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 15.5 km² (6.0 mi²). 7.6 km² (2.9 mi²) of it is land and 7.9 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 51.00% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,958 people, 1,819 households, and 1,395 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 653.3/km² (1,693.4/mi²). There are 1,913 housing units at an average density of 252.1/km² (653.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 87.66% White, 1.31% African American, 1.13% Native American, 2.66% Asian, 0.93% Pacific Islander, 1.35% from other races, and 4.96% from two or more races. 3.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,819 households out of which 39.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.7% are married couples living together, 9.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.3% are non-families. 17.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.06.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 31.5% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.7 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $52,213, and the median income for a family is $56,118. Males have a median income of $39,695 versus $26,875 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $21,946. 5.5% of the population and 4.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.7% of those under the age of 18 and 1.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
