Man is a town and department (département) in the west of central Côte d'Ivoire. It is an important market town lying between mountains including Mount Toura and Mount Tonkoui, the two highest in the nation, and La Dent de Man, popular with hikers. The city lies near an airport and is also known for a nearby waterfall.
As of November 2003, it was one of the two main towns (the other was Bouaké) held by the former rebel group Mouvement patriotique de Côte d’Ivoire (MPCI).
Man is a agricultural region. The main commercial commodity is the coffee. The region of Man is the largest producer of coffee in Ivory Coast.
One of the factory of UNICAFE ( The National Coffee Manufacturer of Cote d'Ivoire) is located in Man.There are also the crops such as cocoa, rice,bananas(plantain),and the cassava that are produced in the region.
The waterfall, la Cascade situated at the west side of the town. It is about 2 miles from le Lycee Professionel de Man ( an ingenering school.La Cascade is in the middle of bamboo forest.It is an excellent place to find colorful dragonflies and a wide variety of butterflies.
The central market of Man is a place you can find a large variety of fabrics( Yacouba traditional clothes so-called Boubou Yacouba),and an endless collection of Dan (Yacouba) marks.
There are quite e few nice hotels in the town. The most known are "Hotel les Casacades","Tanhotel", and "Hotel Beau Sejour". Those hotels are well-equipped with Satelite TV,pools, phone lines,and a good service is provided.
The neighborhood Doyagouine located just in the entry of town is well-known for its night-life because of its night-market where you can find a variety of African dishes in the restaurants, and bars. You can also find the foods sold by the merchands on their tables from peanuts,beans banana plantain fries so-called "Aloco" to "Attieke" a make-up cassave flour mixed with fish or meat.
