Malung is a municipality in Dalarna County in central Sweden.

Nature and geography
The municipality covers an area of 4106.5 km². The terrain in the area is largely submontane, with plenty of bog and forest. The Transtrandsfjällen in the north are the southernmost mountains in Sweden. Rocks are mostly metamorphic and sedimentary, with occurrences of basalt. Most settlements are located in and around the valley of Västerdalälven.

Population and villages
Of the total population of 10538 (as of 2003), 5366 are male and 5172 are female. The population density is 2.6 inhabitants per km². The population was approximately 13000 in the 1960s and has decreased continually since that.

Culture and institutions
- Malung has a folkhögskola, specialized in folk music and folk dance. One notable former music student is Emma Härdelin.
