Maisy Mouse
|
Maisy Mouse is a fictional mouse from the picture book series and animated series created by illustrator Lucy Cousins.
It comes highly recommended in Eden Ross Lipson's The New York Times Parent's Guide to the Best Books for Children (ISBN 0812930185).
The Maisy Mouse animated series uses a reggae-influenced theme song and voice characterizations by the Umbilical Brothers. Maisy has adventures and plays with her friends Charlie Crocodile, Tallulah the Baby Chicken, Cyril Squirrel, and Eddie Elephant. In a surreal note, Maisy, who appears to be six feet tall, lives in a house with Little Black Cat whom she sometimes picks up in her arms. A mellow-voiced announcer narrates the action while the animals go through their paces without speaking. The animated series keeps the look and feel of the books.
