The following is a list of MTV Video Music Award winners for Best Hip Hop Video.
The award, according to MTV, is for hip-hop inspired songs, not neccessarily actual hip-hop music videos (which are instead honored by the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video). This explains the recognition of non-hip-hop songs such as "Thong Song", "I'm Real", and "Hey Ya!"
