The M24 SWS is the military version of the Remington 700 rifle. The name SWS stands for Sniper Weapon System. It is the standard sniper rifle in the US Army (since 1988) and the Israeli Defence Forces.
- Sights: 10 x 42 Leupold Ultra M3A telescopic sight (Mil-Dots), detachable emergency iron sights. (Redfield Palma International)
- Barrel: 1 twist in 11.2 in (284 mm), 5 lands and grooves.
- Stock: HS Precision - adjustable for length of pull.
- Expected accuracy: 1 MOA with M118, 0.75 MOA with M118LR, and 0.25-0.50 MOA with commercial match grade ammunition.
The weapon can be found and used in the U.S. Army's official game, America's Army.
M24A2
Remington is currently developing an improved version of the rifle. The A2 features a removable 10-round magazine, side and top-mounted Picatinny rails, barrel modifications designed to accommodate a suppressor, and an improved stock with a built-in cheek guard. As of February 2005, the M24A2 remains in prototype phase.
