M/S Frans Suell

M/S Frans Suell is a ferry, built in 1992 in Croatia, with a capacity of 2200 passengers and 400 cars. Later known as M/S Silja Scandinavia and M/S Gabriella.
M/S Frans Suell was delivered to the shipping company Euroway on May 5, 1992. She operated for Euroway on the route Malmö - Travemünde/Lübeck and later Copenhagen - Malmö - Travemünde - Lübeck. In 1994 Euroway was closed down, Frans Suell was chartered by Silja Line and renamed to M/S Silja Scandinavia, between 1994 and 1997 she trafficked the route Stockholm - Mariehamn - Turku. In 1996 she was sold to Viking Line, to be delivered in 1997, she was renamed to M/S Gabriella and started trafficking Helsinki - Stockholm and later some other routes between Finland and Sweden.
When the ship was being built, the shipyard Brodogradiliste Split in Croatia was attacked due to the civil war in former Yugoslavia, Frans Suell got damaged by gun shots, remnants of the damages are still visible if you know where to look. The ship was named after the famous businessman Frans Suell from Malmö.
