Lyon Mountain is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in the Town of Dannemora in Clinton County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 458.
Lyon Mountain is on Route Route 374 in the western part of the town.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the area has a total area of 26.4 km² (10.2 mi²). 26.4 km² (10.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 458 people, 214 households, and 129 families residing in the hamlet. The population density is 17.4/km² (45.0/mi²). There are 234 housing units at an average density of 8.9/km² (23.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.85% White, 0.22% African American, 1.09% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.62% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 214 households out of which 22.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% are married couples living together, 8.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% are non-families. 36.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 22.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.14 and the average family size is 2.72.
