Loves Park is a city located in Winnebago County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 20,044.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 38.4 km² (14.8 mi²). 37.4 km² (14.4 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.50% water. As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 20,044 people, 8,144 households, and 5,399 families residing in the city. The population density is 535.6/km² (1,387.2/mi²). There are 8,452 housing units at an average density of 225.8/km² (584.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 92.89% White, 2.33% African American, 0.21% Native American, 1.81% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 1.60% from two or more races. 3.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 8,144 households out of which 33.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% are married couples living together, 10.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% are non-families. 27.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the city the population is spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 33.7% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.7 males.
