Lovells Township is a township located in Crawford County, Michigan in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 578.
Lovells is an unincorporated community in the township on the north branch of the Au Sable River at Template:Coor dms. The elevation is 1162 feet above sea level. It is about 15 miles northeast of Grayling, although the trip via indirect county roads is considerably longer.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 263.6 km² (101.8 mi²). 261.6 km² (101.0 mi²) of it is land and 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.75% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 578 people, 283 households, and 179 families residing in the township. The population density is 2.2/km² (5.7/mi²). There are 932 housing units at an average density of 3.6/km² (9.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.31% White, 0.00% African American, 0.52% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.17% from two or more races. 0.35% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 283 households out of which 17.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% are married couples living together, 6.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.4% are non-families. 31.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.04 and the average family size is 2.48.
In the township the population is spread out with 15.4% under the age of 18, 2.9% from 18 to 24, 20.2% from 25 to 44, 31.7% from 45 to 64, and 29.8% who are 65 years of age or older.
