Los Angeles Angels
|
The term Los Angeles Angels refers to two professional baseball teams:
1. A major league baseball team which has played in baseball's American League from 1961 until the present. The team has been known as the Los Angeles Angels (1961-September 1, 1965), the California Angels (September 2, 1965-1996), and the Anaheim Angels (1997-2004). On January 3, 2005, the name of the team was formally changed to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, with "of Anaheim" added to comply with the team's current stadium lease agreement. Management expects the team to be popularly called the Los Angeles Angels once again.
2. A minor league baseball team which played in baseball's Pacific Coast League from 1903-1957. The team was always called the Los Angeles Angels.
