Loren Legarda-Leviste (born January 28, 1960) is a Filipino broadcast journalist and senator of the Philippines. In the 2004 Philippines general election, she ran for the position of Vice-President as the running mate of Fernando Poe, Jr. who was running for President. She was elected to the Senate in 1998 with more than 15 million votes, becoming the number one senator in that year's election.
Legarda graduated valedictorian in grade school at Assumption Herran and then studied high school at the Assumption Convent in Makati City. She went on to graduate with a degree in journalism, cum laude, at the College of Mass Communication in the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Legarda then took a special course on journalism at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).
